"The atmosphere of the first football game I attended sealed the deal for me. There is an amazing sense of solidarity with students on this campus, and you can't help but feel at home here. Everything that you need as a college student is at your fingertips."

Purple pride
I grew up a huge K-State fan, but wanted to keep my options open. When I visited, I was blown away by how friendly everyone was and how much school pride there is. Everything is purple! I knew then K-State was the right fit for me.

Planning my journey
To stay organized in college, I used a planner. I would schedule my entire week with time for classes, meetings, studying and hobbies. I found that if I scheduled time to do some things that I enjoyed, I was more productive.

Real-world issues
Of all the events I attended on campus, it was amazing to see President George W. Bush speak about issues to students in Bramlage Coliseum as part of the Landon Lecture Series.

All in the family
K-State is different because it truly is a family. Everyone is so friendly and passionate about the university. Someone is always there for you and wants to help make you successful.

Uniting for victory
My favorite K-State memory is walking into Bramlage Coliseum for the first K-State Proud game and seeing the entire crowd wearing the "blackout" shirt. The unity and passion of the event was incredible.

Supporting cast
Before college, I wish someone had told me it was okay to ask for help. People at K-State really do want you to be successful and there are so many resources available to help you. It took me a while to understand that it was okay to ask for help when I was struggling with courses or needed some advice.

Own your involvement
My best tip for getting involved on campus is to visit the activities carnival at the beginning of the school year. It's a great way to visit with hundreds of clubs and organizations, and find several that you would like to join. Get to know the people in your living groups, or the person who sits next to you in class.

Damp discovery
Every student should bring an umbrella to campus. My first day at K-State I got caught in a downpour, and had to spend the rest of the day in soaking wet clothes.

Down time
My guilty pleasure TV show is "Friends." I could watch it all day.

Chowing down
The one meal I could eat forever is the crab and black bean quesadilla from Coco Bolos in Manhattan.
